Miss Merced
Spring of 2015, we were sleeping in the rain
Nothing but our bags and our names
Sounds of coyotes in the distance
Kept us awake, awake through the night
Oh, but we woke up to the sunrise
Screaming our names, screaming our names
Running around in the dessert off 385
It’s where it began, we had our dreams in our hands
Now I can say that I miss Merced
If I don’t see her soon I might as well be dead
Water’s so cold, yeah, but she’s so warm
Now I can say that I miss Merced
August 2015, we were sleeping on a rock
Middle of Merced, oh I love
I love the way she roars at me
She makes me think of myself, and I’m free
Oh, but we woke up to the sunrise
Screaming our names, screaming our names
Oh, with my pen in my hand and my feet in the lake I wrote down my mistake
And none for you
Now I can say that I miss Merced
If I don’t see her soon I might as well be dead
Water’s so cold, yeah, but she’s so warm
Now I know I’m gonna see Merced, see Merced
