BECKETT

​why am i cursеd with demons and death?

(a knock at the door.)

SHELOB
​strangеr at the door beckett?

BECKETT
​don’t come near me!

SHELOB
​or is the knocking coming from inside the house?

BECKETT
​i get it now gramps!
​these walls are too thin!

​boxes!
​there’s a huge stack of broken-down amazon boxes
​plus the boxes from my move;
​plenty of materials—
​i can make a clochán!

​protect myself from others!
​protect others from myself!
(he begins to build a clochán out of cardboard boxes.)

SHELOB
​yes, beckett, yes!

BECKETT

(shelob ascends in ecstasy.)

BECKETT

(beckett cowers in fear; susan approaches the clochán and helps build.)
