Alfred Lord Tennyson
The Kraken
[Verse 1]
Below the thunders of the upper deep
Far, far beneath
In the abysmal sea
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth
Faintest sunlights flee
[Chorus]
In the blackest deep
The Kraken sleeps
[Verse 2]
About his shadowy sides above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height
From many a wondrous grot
And secret cell
Reaching far away
Into the sickly light
[Chorus]
In the blackest deep
The Kraken sleeps
[Verse 3]
Amid the towering wreckage long unseen
Unnumberеd and enormous polypi
Winnow with green arms the slumbering rеap
Hailing no living man a falling angels eye
[Chorus]
In the blackest deep
The Kraken sleeps
[Verse 4]
Battening upon huge sea worms in his sleep
There hath he lay
For ages and will lie
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep
In roaring he shall rise
And on the surface die
[Chorus]
In the blackest deep
The Kraken sleeps
In the blackest sea
The Kraken sleeps
