He dreamed of an iron cross so fine and at his foot bread and wine

Death had been and had his fill but one corpse lay breathing still
[Verse 5]

[Verse 6]
And though the bullets fell like rain Sir, we were happy in our [?]
I keep one wish ‘til wishes cease, and my wish Sir shall be peace
[Verse 7]
If my cross unites you all, you needn’t fight, you needn’t fall
Eat my bread and drink my wine and throw your rifles in the Rhine
