Hello, I'm Shela Xu and I just recently came onboard the L2 team as a marketing intern.

I am pursuing a BS in Electronic Media Arts and Communications with a minor in Marketing at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The program at my school is quite interdisciplinary in regards to new media and communications so I am really excited about working with L2 and its Fuse integrated marketing platform because the product’s cross-media approach lines up perfectly with what I've been learning.

My first week I was assigned an intern project where I designed and implemented an integrated campaign application.

The “best” solution does not exist!
It is important that you look for the solution that best fits your customer needs and not the “best” solution.

Every solution is developed differently, and may be stronger for specific functions and not others.

When the sales guy tells you they are selling you the best solution that you can find, just simply say you don't believe them and ask them to break it down and draw examples that are relevant to the challenges you are facing.

Jot down all the answers you get from all the different sales guys and compare them.

I created a campaign for a hypothetical company or product, combining a data collection site and personalized URLs (PURLs).

I chose a tea bar/music lounge because I could create options for more complex personalization that I could try to achieve through Fuse.

It was definitely challenging getting the hang of navigating the dashboard and using Fuse Script but this is because the software is capable of so much more than this basic application I’m working with.

Now that I'm approaching completion of my application, I am confident that I've got a good handle on creating personalized URLs and using other functions in Fuse.

It is clear that Fuse can support huge and powerful applications with layers upon layers of personalization; I'm looking forward to learning and achieving great things with it.
